# FTB Unstable 6 (MC 26.1.2) — 128x texture pack setup

This instance runs **Minecraft 26.1.2** (NeoForge 26.1.2). The resource-pack format
("pack_format") the game expects is **84**.

The plan is a **layered stack**, not one merged file: the base Sphax pack makes
vanilla gorgeous at 128x, and per-mod BDcraft/Sphax patches sit on top for the mods
that have them. Minecraft merges enabled packs automatically — higher pack wins,
lower packs fill the gaps.

---

## Load order (top = highest priority)

In game: **Options → Resource Packs**, drag each pack from the left (available) to
the right (selected), then order the selected column like this, top to bottom:

```
[ TOP / highest priority ]
  (optional) Re-covered                      # enchanted-book covers
  [128x] <mod> BDCraft patches ...           # AE2, Refined Storage, Powah, etc.
  PureBDcraft 128x MC261                      # Sphax base — vanilla 128x
  (optional) The Brazilian Project           # pt_br TRANSLATION only (no textures)
[ BOTTOM / lowest priority — vanilla below ]
```

Why this order:
- Mod patches use their own namespaces (`ae2`, `refinedstorage`, `powah`, …) and
  don't collide with each other or with Sphax's `minecraft` namespace, so their
  relative order rarely matters — but keeping patches **above** the base is the
  BDcraft convention and guarantees a patch always wins any overlap.
- "The Brazilian Project" only contains `lang/pt_br.json` — it's a Portuguese
  translation, not textures. Keep it only if you want Portuguese; order is irrelevant.

## Measured patch coverage (vs the actually-installed mod jars)

1.21-era BDcraft patches work very well on these 26.1.2 mod builds:

| Patch | Mod textures | Covered | Coverage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Refined Storage | 681 | 642 | 94.3% |
| Applied Energistics 2 | 614 | 566 | 92.2% |
| Powah | 221 | 168 | 76% |

Uncovered textures (new/renamed in the newer mod version) simply fall back to the
mod's native art. No crashes.

---

## Adding a new patch later

1. Download the patch .zip (see sources below). Highest MC version available is best.
2. Drop it in this folder (`resourcepacks\`). To stage/test first, drop it in
   `_incoming\` instead.
3. Run the fixer so the game doesn't flag it "incompatible":

   ```powershell
   .\Fix-PackCompat.ps1
   ```

   It rewrites each pack's `pack.mcmeta` to accept format 84, backing up the
   original first (`<pack>.zip.bak`). Already-compatible packs are left alone.
4. Enable + order it in game (see load order above).

**Before trusting a patch, confirm its namespace matches an installed mod.** A patch
for a mod you don't have does nothing (e.g. the Mekanism patch here is inert —
Mekanism isn't installed; safe to delete). To check a patch's namespaces:

```powershell
Add-Type -AssemblyName System.IO.Compression.FileSystem
$z=[System.IO.Compression.ZipFile]::OpenRead("full\path\to\patch.zip")
$z.Entries | %{ if($_.FullName -match '^assets/([^/]+)/'){$matches[1]} } | Sort-Object -Unique
$z.Dispose()
```

## Where to find patches

- **BDcraft community forum — Releases for Mods** (true 128x, best source; behind a
  Cloudflare human-check): https://bdcraft.net/community/viewforum.php?f=9
- **CurseForge** — search `<mod name> BDcraft`:
  https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/search?class=texture-packs&search=bdcraft
- **Faithful add-ons** (32x/64x fallback when no Sphax patch exists):
  https://faithfulpack.net/addons

### Mods in THIS pack most worth checking for patches
Highest value first (big in-game footprint + a patch has historically existed):

- Applied Energistics 2 ✅ have it (covers AE2 add-ons too: AdvancedAE, ExtendedAE,
  ExtraDisks/Storage, cabletiers — they reuse AE2 textures)
- Refined Storage ✅ have it
- Powah  ✅ have it
- Mystical Agriculture (+ Agradditions) — 128x patch exists
- Ender IO (+ Endergy)
- Chisel / Chisels & Bits
- BiblioCraft
- JEI (UI)
- Tropicraft
- Witchery / EvilCraft / Reliquary
- Integrated Dynamics (+ Tunnels/Crafting/Terminals)
- Apotheosis (+ Apothic*, Gateways To Eternity)
- Occultism
- Sophisticated Storage / Backpacks
- Productive Bees
- Waystones
- Building Gadgets 2 / Mining Gadgets
- Alex's Mobs, The Aether II (check Faithful add-ons — likely 32x/64x only)

---

## Notes / caveats

- Compatibility fix ≠ content fix. The fixer only removes the "older version" gate.
  Cross-version patches can have coverage gaps (handled gracefully) and, rarely,
  old-schema JSON *model* files that render a few items oddly (item-model schema
  changed in the 1.21.4 era). Still no crashes.
- Base Sphax should always be the version matching this instance (26.1 / MC 26.1.2),
  NOT a 1.21.1 vanilla pack — an old vanilla base misses new blocks/mobs.
- `.bak` files are one-time backups made by the fixer. Delete them once you're happy.

## `FTB Materials 128x (generated).zip` — custom-built, no patch existed

No Sphax/Faithful patch exists for FTB Materials, so this one is generated by
`Build-FtbMaterials128.ps1` (in this folder). Method:

- **Ores** = Sphax's own 128x base block (stone/deepslate/netherrack/end_stone) with a
  recolored Sphax ore-blob composited on top, tinted to each material's real color.
- **Ingots/nuggets/blocks/raw blocks/raw ore/chunks/gems/shards/clusters/dust** =
  a matching Sphax vanilla shape (iron_ingot, iron_block, diamond, amethyst_shard,
  glowstone_dust, …) recolored to the material, preserving Sphax's hand-drawn shading.
- **Dusts (tiny/small/dirty), gears, rods, wire, plates, blades** = clean bicubic
  upscale of the mod's own 16x art (no vanilla shape to borrow).

Result: 727 textures (459 premium-recolored, 268 upscaled). Load it **above** Sphax
like any patch (namespace `ftbmaterials`, so order doesn't actually conflict).

**Regenerate when FTB Materials updates** (new materials/items):

```powershell
.\Build-FtbMaterials128.ps1 -Mode all
```

The script auto-detects the current FTB Materials jar, the vanilla client jar, and the
Sphax pack. Use `-Mode sample` to preview a montage first. Tunables: `-OreThreshold`
(ore-spot sensitivity), `-LShiftSolid` / `-LShiftOre` (how strongly material brightness
is applied). The same approach can be copied for any other mod that has no patch.

## Downloaded BDcraft patches + measured coverage

Pulled from the bdcraft.net forum (highest MC version available) and run through the
compatibility fixer. "Coverage" = % of the installed mod's textures the patch actually
replaces at 26.1.2 (the rest fall back to native — no crashes). Load all **above** Sphax.

| Patch | Coverage | Keep? |
|---|---|---|
| Refined Storage (have) | 94% | ✅ |
| Applied Energistics 2 (have) | 92% | ✅ |
| Mining Gadgets | 100% | ✅ |
| Pipez | 100% | ✅ |
| Mystical Agriculture | 91% | ✅ |
| Functional Storage | 85% | ✅ |
| EvilCraft | 81% | ✅ |
| Sophisticated Storage | 75% | ✅ |
| Reliquary | 68% | ✅ |
| Building Gadgets | 61% | ✅ |
| Sophisticated Backpacks | 59% | ✅ |
| Apotheosis | 54% | ✅ |
| Curios | 40% | 🟡 small mod |
| Sophisticated Core | 32% | 🟡 |
| EnderIO | 24% | 🟡 big rewrite in 9.0-alpha |
| Waystones | 12% | 🟠 low |
| JEI | 0% | ❌ paths changed — remove |
| Chisel Reborn | 0% | ❌ different texture set — remove (17 MB dead weight) |

The 0% ones (JEI, Chisel) didn't match the installed mod's texture paths and did nothing —
**removed**. Powah! (have) is the "Rearchitected" patch matching Powah 7.x.

**Chisel has no usable patch.** The installed mod is "Chisel 3: The Cricket Strikes Back"
(namespace `chisel`, ~9,034 textures incl. huge CTM `concrete_*/`, `blackstone/` groups).
Every available patch is for a different fork/version — Chisel Reborn (`block/array/…`
layout, 0%) and classic Chisel 1.12/1.16.5 (0%). None match, and 9,000+ decorative/CTM
variants aren't worth generating. Chisel stays at native textures.
